Homesteading Escape

Who's ready for some winter silliness??? Here ya go!

As I was driving home from town the other day, "Escape (The Pina Colada Song)" was playing on the radio. I'm one of those drivers who likes to sing along, especially to the oldies and more especially if I can remember all the words. Although....I've been known to make up the words to fill in a spot I can't remember. Now. I know all the words to the aforementioned song but for some strange reason, every time Rupert Holmes sang "If you like making love at midnight" what came out of MY mouth was, "If you like milking goats at midnight." I don't know why. But since the song is now stuck in my head, I have been having fun making up other lines. Today I made it about homesteading and blogging...

I was tired of my newsfeed,
we’d been together too long
Like a worn out recording, of a
favorite song
So while my critters were sleeping,
I read the paper in bed
And in the personal column, there
was this letter I read

“If you like writing about chickens, Johnson grass and the rain
If you’re not into shopping malls, if you have half a brain
If you like sharing about frugalness, predators and seed tape
You’re the blogger I’ve looked for,
help me dream and escape."

I didn’t think about my chores
I know that sounds kind of mean
But me and all of those chores
had fallen into the same old dull routine.
So I built me a blog,
as good as a personal ad
And though I’m nobody’s poet
I’ve seen worse (not a poet!!!)

“Yes I like writing about chickens, and milking goats in the rain.
I’m not much into gmo’s, I am into back pain.
If you like reading about dandelions, baby goats and teat tape
You’re the reader I’m looking for,
join me here and escape.”
