Mystery Squash

A volunteer showed up at the edge of the garden- not a volunteer to pull weeds or roll out the gazillion ft. long watering hose. Nope, just a volunteer squash plant of some sort or other. It sprung up right where kitchen scraps are dumped and very near to where goat/chicken waste is piled. Anyone want to make a guess as to what kind of squash it is? Your guess would be better than mine, I'm clueless!

  1. Zucchini? Looks like a green squash to me, not a crookneck or yellow...

    1. Fingers crossed it's not zucchini. I've ran out of mailboxes to hide those in!

  2. Butternut Squash of some type I think. Perhaps it got cross pollinated as well.

    1. I'd be happy with butternut. I've never successfully grown one!
